Our services fall into four areas:

Custom Building: Custom homes, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), additions, garages, decks, porches and outdoor structures.

Renovation: Kitchens, bathrooms, basement finishing, whole-home renovations and restoration of older New England homes.

Repairs: Carpentry repairs, foundation drainage and general home maintenance, with plumbing, electrical and other trades coordinated as needed.

Painting: Interior and exterior painting, staining, wood restoration and painting maintenance.

Yes — this is one of our specialties. We have deep experience with pre-1900 New England construction methods, timber framing, stone foundations, and period-appropriate materials. We've worked on everything from 1870s farmhouses to mid-century colonial homes.

Yes. We take on everything from full custom home builds and major renovations to smaller repairs, painting jobs, and maintenance projects. If you're not sure whether your project is the right fit, just get in touch — we're happy to discuss it.

A: Yes. We build accessory dwelling units including detached cottages, garage conversions, and attached in-law suites. We can help with design, permitting, and full construction through to finishing.

Yes. For projects requiring electricians, plumbers, or other specialists, we coordinate and manage all trades. We work with trusted professionals we've built relationships with over many years, so you don't have to chase down multiple contractors. We handle the project from start to finish.

Yes — Crisman Craftsmanship is family owned and operated. Ted's sons assist on projects, and we treat every home we work in with the same care we'd give our own. That family approach extends to how we communicate with clients: honestly, directly, and with real respect for your time and investment.

Crisman Craftsmanship is a family-owned construction and fine carpentry business founded by Ted Crisman on September 1, 1997, and based in Munsonville, New Hampshire.

Ted began learning carpentry in the fall of 1984, when he helped build a shed for his horse.

We provide custom building, renovation, repairs and painting across Cheshire County and the Monadnock Region, as well as elsewhere in New Hampshire and Greater Boston. Our team brings New England building methods, direct communication and attention to detail to every project.

Our custom building work includes homes, additions and garages, as well as renovation projects:

• Crisman Home, Munsonville, NH: Custom design/build.

• Winterbottom, 2017: Complete home renovation and addition, in collaboration with architect Dan Scully of Scully Architects, Dublin, NH.

• Meltzer garage, 2023: Garage project in Hancock, NH, in collaboration with architect Dan Scully of Scully Architects.

• Haefner addition, 2024–2025: Home addition documented in the homeowner’s Lórien project story, with progress images and a record of the process and completion.
